Tonights Star Rising

Record shops across the nation are playing host to the self-titled debut album of Ashgrove band The Tonights after its release on Monday.  The band, made up of siblings Eva and Henry Fritz, and Eva’s husband, Christian Paul Sargeant, is fast putting its stamp on the national music market, with its single Tiptoes scoring airplay on Triple J, and the making of the song’s film clip almost wrapped up.

Eva Fritz said make the clip had been hard work.  “It was two days of filming, it was very draining, but is anything in the arts not draining?” she said.

Ea said making the album had been an interesting experience and involved selling their home at The Gap to help finance it.

“Christian also declined the offer to be a full-time band member with Pete Murray, after recording drums on his Feeler album two years ago, for family reasons,” she said.
“The rigours of rehearsal, recording, as well as maintaining day jobs and raising children, have already paid off, though, with our single receiving airplay on community and commercial radio including Triple J, as well as being included on a compilation album, and getting pre-release orders for the album in 14 stores in Queensland.”
Eva said the band planned to start filming a clip for its single Trace in January next year before touring.
